Here's the skinny: This is a 1984 VW Westfalia Camper Vanagon. I am the third owner. The guy I bought it from bought it from the original owners who purchased it a Mission Bay Volkswagon in CA in 1984. They took excellent care of it and I have every record for everything that's ever been done to this vehicle. I've only owned it for a year and I simply don't have enough time to use it like I wish I could. We've taken for or five trips in it and they've been a blast. The first weekend we took it out we rolled into the campground in a full-on downpour... we popped the top, turned the captains chairs and opened a cold beer from the fridge and thought... now this is camping.

It's a four speed manual and it's in Wolfsburg trim... which really just means a couple of extra bits like a map lamp, nicer upholstery etc.—oh and the all important badge that says Wolfsburg Edition. The interior is in stunning condition. There are no tears or stains in any of the upholstery. All of the screens and curtains are in good shape... although the pop-top does have a tear in it that has been repaired. There is a screen for the back of the van so you can have the hatch open and no bugs getting in... there's really nice ventilation with that open. There is also a privacy curtain for the front part of the van in case you're camping in close quarters like a festival. The exterior is in overall great condition. There's no rust to the body and the paint is in good shape although there are some slight scratches to the paint to be expected from an older vehicle. This van has an aftermarket BEHR air conditioner which really cranks out the cold air... that's in addition to the stock one. This was installed when the car was purchased new. It has a second deep cycle marine battery which will run the lights, fridge and stereo for about three days without needing a charge. The stereo is a Kenwood CD/AM/FM with speakers in the back as well as front and it has a remote control.

The van has 125,300 original miles on the vehicle. The engine is strong and pulls well. When I bought this vehicle I searched hi and low for one with low miles and that was in outstanding condition. I found this one and have repaired addressed pretty much every know issue:

SHOP WORK: When I bought it I took it to Verner's Automotive in boulder and they went through it checking compression and gave it the once over. They replaced the front right ball joint and patched the return coolant line and adjusted the alignment.

MY WORK: I've put in a new master cylinder, and new rear brakes drums and pads. I changed the tranny oil when I got it because I wasn't sure when it had been changed. It was very clean. I've adjusted and lubricated the linkage so it shifts smoothly. I've put in a new Bosch starter. Put in a new second stage fuel filter. I've put in a new clear (you can watch the stars from in bed) skylight with stainless hardware. I've put on two new bumpers and replaced all the missing trim and replaced the door locks and window cranks. I've replaced the rear hatch struts. I've upgraded the headlights as well to Sylvania XtraVision 6024 Halogen Headlights. Basically I went through the vehicle and fixed everything. There are a couple of things I haven't done: The pop top needs a new screen... it didn't have one when I bought it. I purchased a new sink motor, but haven't installed it yet. And the regulator on the gas tank should be replaced.

Take this super clean van on your next adventure.
